Acts - Until Everyone Knows

DAY 3 OF 28

Acts 3

Peter and John begin to walk in another dimension of this new ‘Spirit-Empowered’ life. They walk into the temple courts and, moved by compassion for a lame beggar, they perform a public healing miracle. Notice, not just the similarities in boldness and actions to Jesus, but also the prophetic nature of the healing.

Much like the woman at the well (John 4), or the paralysed man lowered through the roof (Luke 5), Peter and John do not provide the man with what he wants. The woman needed literal water and was offered Living Water; the paralysed man needed healing, but was initially offered Forgiveness. Here, the man requests money, but Peter and John see beyond that need, and move in their newfound Authority and Power to heal.

You are called to serve others with compassion, to care for the poor, needy, and voiceless, and often that requires serving a need that is immediately obvious. But you can also develop the skill of seeing beyond what is obvious - prophetically sensing what is in the heart of a person or situation, and bring about Spiritual Freedom. You can stay alert to the nudge of the Holy Spirit where He is calling you to serve a deeper need, for Truth, Freedom, and Salvation.

Jesus, You saw right into the hearts of all people. Help me to serve today like You did, not just providing what is obvious, but bringing deeper Freedom where it is needed. Amen.

About this Plan

Acts - Until Everyone Knows

In Acts, we read about the Early Church taking its first steps to go out to the nations. This happened because ordinary people were filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to share the Good News of Jesus and bring healing and freedom. God has designed you to walk in the same Power today! As you learn from this Book, one chapter a day, and read the Devotional, consider this question: How can I step out more to share the Good News of Jesus in the Power of the Holy Spirit?
