Psalm 124 is a powerful declaration of God’s deliverance. The psalmist looks back and recognizes that if it weren’t for the Lord’s intervention, Israel would have been overwhelmed by their enemies. This song echoes that same truth: “Had it not been for the Lord, had it not been for His grace, I’d still be stuck in chains, I’d still be in that grave.”

How often do we stop to reflect on what God has rescued us from? There have been moments in our lives when we were surrounded by darkness, when fear, doubt, or the enemy’s attacks threatened to consume us. But just as Psalm 124 reminds us, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (v.8). He is our rescuer, our deliverer, and our ever-present help.

The verses of this song speak of those low valleys and rising waters- seasons when it felt like hope was slipping away. Yet, even then, God was by our side. Even when we couldn’t see a way out, He was making a way. No matter what we face today, we can trust that God is still faithful, still fighting for us, still bringing deliverance.

The bridge of this song is a testimony: “Once a prisoner, now I am free. I was blind, but now I can see.” This is the power of the gospel! Jesus took our place, broke our chains, and brought us from death to life. Our past no longer defines us, His grace does.

Today, take a moment to look back and see how God has brought you through. Thank Him for His faithfulness, and trust that just as He has been your Savior before, He will be your Savior again. No situation is too great for Him. He has always been, and will always be, your Deliverer.
