Revelation can be very confusing with its imagery and symbolism. The subject of how the world will end makes the book a little scary, too. But there is still plenty we can apply to our lives today. Chapter 6 describes the beginning of the Great Tribulation, which included war, hate, inflation, death, disease, and famine. Does this sound familiar?

The Great Tribulation will be a bigger, badder version of all the evil we already see in the world today, but we have hope. In John 16, Jesus tells his disciples that following him will become painful and dangerous. They will endure ridicule, shame, punishment, and death on his behalf. But he encourages them with an important fact. The world gives us trouble, but he has overcome the world. No one knows if we’ll be around for the Great Tribulation, but we all have some level of tribulation already. Place your hope, your confident expectation, in the one who has laid down his life, paid your price and defeated all evil.
