DAY 35 OF 40

We Have an Eternal Home - Day 35

Most of us have misconceptions about what eternity looks like. Many of these perceptions are based on pieces of art, music, film, and literature that have shaped our culture. Maybe you picture Heaven and think of people with wings and halos hanging around on clouds and playing harps. Maybe you imagine yourself floating around like a ghost or disembodied spirit. These are common images people conjure up when they contemplate eternity. However, both of these are misconceptions. Most Christians are aware that we do not become angels when we die, but many Christians are confused about the state we will be in eternally. When Jesus returns to set all things right, the new heavens and the new Earth will be established. All who believe in Christ will be resurrected and will live eternally in glorified human bodies, similar to how Jesus appeared after His resurrection. In eternity, we will not be flitting around as spirits in the sky. Instead, we will be living in the fulfillment of God's original design for human beings. What was broken in the Garden of Eden will be eternally restored.
