DAY 32 OF 40

We Have an Eternal Home - Day 32

Have you ever been homesick? Maybe you can remember being a kid in a bunk bed at a sleep-away camp, wishing you could just sleep in your own bed. Maybe you’ve moved to a place that’s very different than where you’re originally from, and you miss what’s familiar. We have probably all experienced some form of homesickness, but have you ever identified with the phrase, “homesick for a place I’ve never been?” When we look around and see the brokenness in this world, we can feel as if we simply don’t belong here. This is because, in our spirits, we know that this is not how things are supposed to be. In the core of our beings, we know we are called to something more. We can truly be homesick for our eternal home. Today, take a moment to fully sit with the emotions of being homesick for a place you have never been. Allow yourself to reflect on the pain and difficulty of living in a broken, fallen world. Then, direct your attention toward our blessed hope. Be encouraged by the fact that, one day, we will never again have to experience homesickness, as we will be where we truly belong.
