What Do Christians Believe?Sample

We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins.
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)
Baptism is a simple ritual with deep meaning. Baptism is intended for everyone who wants to accept the forgiveness of sins that the Lord God offers us. This forgiveness is often compared in the Bible to a cleansing bath. God wants to wash us clean of all wrong things and make us completely clean and pure again. This is powerfully depicted in baptism, where people are sprinkled or immersed in water. Baptism symbolizes and affirms the forgiveness of our sins. In Acts 22:16, for example, people are urged, “Be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on His name.”
Being submerged in water is also a symbol of death and new life. One who is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ is “buried with Him by baptism into death.” That person has “died to sin.” But just as Christ rose again from the dead, so believers receive new life; even eternal life. Baptism marks that transition.
Have you been baptized? If yes: what does that mean to you? If no: do you want to be baptized?
About this Plan

In 2025, the worldwide church celebrates the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, an assembly representing all of Christendom. At this council, people tried to state and affirm the Christian faith in the triune God. This reading plan studies the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed to see what Christians throughout history have confirmed to be the core of their faith.
