Day 5: My Two Miracle Babies
Sterling and Jean Miller’s journey of faith was not without challenges, yet it was marked by God’s abundant blessings. Their miracle babies, JoBeth and I, were a testament to God’s ability to bring life, hope, and beauty even after seasons of heartbreak and loss. These children were a daily reminder of God’s faithfulness—a living example of Ephesians 3:20, of God doing far more than Sterling and Jean could have imagined during their years of waiting and grief. But God’s promises are not the end of the story; they’re the beginning of a call to action.
As Sterling and Jean embraced the gift of their family, they also remained deeply committed to the vision God had placed in their hearts: the church and school on their 2.5 acres of faith. Building and leading these ministries required relentless hard work, sacrifice, and an unwavering trust in God’s provision. Sterling poured himself into the work, embodying the wisdom of Ecclesiastes 9:10: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” He knew that fulfilling God’s vision required not only faith but also action.
There were times when the burden felt heavy, and the demands of leadership seemed insurmountable. Yet Sterling and Jean clung to Galatians 6:9, refusing to grow weary in doing good. They believed that the harvest God had promised would come in His perfect timing, and they pressed on, trusting that their efforts were not in vain. Their perseverance bore fruit as the church and school grew into thriving communities that impacted countless lives.
But even as they worked tirelessly, life continued to test their faith. When Jean became gravely ill, the family faced yet another season of uncertainty and sorrow. The thought of losing Jean was devastating to the whole family, but it also deepened their reliance on God. As they navigated this painful chapter, they turned to 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” It became a powerful declaration to ensure they would remain steadfast in their faith, trusting God’s plan even in the face of loss.
Through it all, Sterling and Jean’s story is a reminder that God’s blessings and His call to perseverance often go hand in hand. The arrival of their miracle children, the growth of their ministry, and even the challenges they faced were all woven into God’s greater purpose for their lives. Their journey was not easy, but it was worth it as they saw God’s power at work in ways they could never have imagined.
What dream has God placed in your heart? Perhaps it’s a calling to serve, to create, or to care for others. Maybe it’s a promise you’ve been waiting to see fulfilled. Whatever it is, know that God is working through your efforts, even when the road feels long, or the obstacles seem overwhelming. Pray for the strength to keep going, trusting that He will do immeasurably more than all you could ask or imagine.
God’s faithfulness doesn’t end when the dream begins. He invites us to partner with Him, to work with all our might, and to persevere in faith. Whether you’re in a season of planting, waiting, or harvesting, trust that He is with you every step of the way. Fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith, knowing that His plans for you are greater than anything you could imagine.
