The Mysteries of Praise

DAY 6 OF 7

Praise is Assurance

As we grow in God, our Praise begins to flow from a place of assurance. We learn to depend fully on God, confident in His Faithfulness, even before we see the fulfillment of His Promises. This is the mystery of Praise: it is an expression of assurance of God’s Character and Actions, long before the evidence appears.

At Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus shows us what it means to Praise from a place of assurance. He was deeply moved by the pain of losing His friend and the grief of Lazarus’ loved ones. Yet, even in the face of death, He lifted His voice to thank God. He didn’t wait for God to raise Lazarus before giving thanks; He Praised, knowing that the Father always hears and acts.

Jesus declared, “Father, I thank You that You have heard me. I knew that You always hear Me.” So, why then did He Praise out loud? He needed to voice that assurance so that the people standing nearby might believe in God’s Power and the Truth of His Mission.

The same assurance that led Jesus to Praise is available to us. When we depend on God, trusting in His Goodness and Sovereignty, Praise becomes our natural response. It declares that we believe in His Promises, even when the situation looks hopeless. It declares that we know we are loved by God and sent by Him.

What situation are you facing that requires this kind of assurance? As you thank God for what He is doing, even before you see it, your Praise becomes an act of faith aligning your heart with His Will and announcing to others that you are sent by God

Reflection

What Promises of God are you trusting Him to fulfill? Take a moment to express your assurance through Praise today.

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You hear me. Teach me to Praise from a place of assurance and trust in You before I see the answers. May my Praise be a testimony to others of Your Unfailing Goodness. Amen.

About this Plan

The Mysteries of Praise

In this 7-day devotional, Dunsin Oyekan examines the mysteries of Praise as the believer’s weapon. As you read about these Old and New Testament examples, be encouraged to wield this Spiritual Weapon in days of joy as much as in challenging moments.
