Multiplying the Gospel // Gospel X - Multiplying the Message

DAY 2 OF 7

This text reflects the ideal how the early church lived.
They shared their possessions, meals, supported each other, prayed together and lived according to the teachings of the Apostles. As a result, “each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” (Acts 2-47).
Their lifestyle was infectious. People observed those first Christian communities and wanted to become part of it. This lifestyle of the early Chrsitians was different. They were not looking for their own advantage, but the good of the community. They were committed to Jesus’ teachings. Signs and wonders were a normal part of their experience. Because of this difference in values and lifestyle, people were looking at them. They got interested in those “Christians”. People wanted to have the same. They longed to experience the same sort of community and belonging. New people came to faith on a daily basis.

The witnessing of these Christians was exemplary living and a behaviour that was in line with Jesus’ teachings, but contrary to the customs. The text does not say how much those Chrsitians shared the gospel with their mouth; but their behaviour was a source of witnessing.

This is also true today. Our behaviour says more than 1000 words.
What is your behaviour telling others?
What witness is your lifestyle?
Is Jesus reflected in your daily life?
Can people see Jesus by observing you?

Believing in Jesus and being his follower does not only mean to believe in the right things. It is also about our behaviour. If our faith in Jesus does not result in a godly behaviour, our faith is dead (James 2.14). In other words, true faith in Jesus will lead to a behaviour that also reflects God. What does your behaviour reflect? Have you experienced that people come to faith or are drawn towards Jesus because of your behaviour?
What did they say, what was it that attracted them?

About this Plan

Multiplying the Gospel // Gospel X - Multiplying the Message

Jesus left the church the vision of a movement when he challenged us to reproduce from our own Jerusalem into “Judea, Samaria and the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). For us to see a movement, we need every Christ follower to adopt Jesus' personal mission to “seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). Evangelism is core to the mission of Jesus and essential to accomplishing his vision. This plan is part of a 5 week journey around the topic of Gospel X - Multiplying the Gospel
