We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

DAY 137 OF 365

Day 137 of 365

As David returns to Jerusalem in 2 Samuel 19, he shows mercy to those who opposed him during Absalom’s rebellion. Instead of enacting vengeance, David extends grace. This mercy reflects the heart of God, who is slow to anger and abounding in love. The Holy Spirit shapes our hearts to mirror this same mercy, inviting us to forgive those who have wronged us and to trust that God’s grace is sufficient.

In John 5, Jesus speaks of the life that comes through faith in Him, a gift given not because we deserve it but because of God’s mercy. The Spirit invites us to receive this gift and to extend the same grace to others. True mercy doesn’t ignore wrongdoing but forgives and releases bitterness, trusting God to heal and restore.

Today, ask the Spirit to fill you with a heart of mercy. Consider any areas where you might be holding onto resentment or bitterness, and surrender these to God. Allow His love to cleanse your heart, freeing you to walk in the fullness of His mercy and to reflect His grace to those around you.
