Sermon on the Mount: The BeatitudesSample
Day 23:
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:10
Praying for the persecuted church
Persecution is a reality for many believers around the world who suffer for their faith in Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:3 calls us to remember them: “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” Our prayers can bring comfort, strength, and hope to those enduring trials for the sake of the gospel.
Lifting the persecuted church in prayer is a powerful way to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We can pray for their protection, boldness, and faith to remain strong. We can also ask God to soften the hearts of those who oppose them and to open doors for the message of Jesus to spread, even in the most hostile places.
When we pray for the persecuted, we acknowledge the unity of the body of Christ. Their struggles remind us of the cost of following Jesus and inspire us to live boldly for Him in our own lives. Let us be faithful in prayer, trusting that God hears and responds to our cries for those who suffer in His name.
Prayer focus:
Lifting those around the world who suffer persecution for Christ.

About this Plan
The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most incredible passages of scripture in the entire Bible. It is the longest passage of Jesus speaking without interruption. The Beatitudes, or attitudes of supreme blessing, are a roadmap for our lives, teaching us to reflect the nature of Jesus Christ in every interaction. Throughout this devotional, we will spend three days on each beatitude, ending with a focus on applying the entirety of it to our daily lives.
