Day 19: Opportunities in the Ordinary
Focus Scripture:
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” – Colossians 3:23
One of the best things you can do is put your preferences on the altar. Sometimes we tend to prefer and expect God-sized opportunities to arrive in grandeur. More often than not, they show up in the small, everyday tasks that make up our lives. When we align ourselves with God’s order, we begin to see that every action, no matter how routine or ordinary, holds the potential to honor Him and fulfill His purpose.
Whether it's a conversation with a colleague, a quiet act of kindness, or simply choosing to do our work with excellence, these moments are opportunities to reflect God's character. It’s in these seemingly mundane tasks that we demonstrate our faithfulness, trusting that God is using even the smallest to actualize the big picture. As we shift our focus and embrace this mindset, we start to realize that our daily lives are filled with moments of significance, each one an invitation to walk in obedience and to serve others.
By committing ourselves to God’s order in these everyday actions, we step into His purpose and allow His will to unfold, not just in the big decisions, but in the little things that make up our day-to-day existence. It’s through this perspective that we can find purpose in all we do, knowing that God is at work even in the smallest details.
Reflection Prompt:
- How can you bring God’s order into the ordinary tasks of your day?
- In what ways can you turn mundane activities into acts of worship?
Call to Action:
Today, approach your regular tasks—whether at work, home, or in your community—as opportunities to honor God. Do them as if you are working directly for Him.
