Stepping Out in Faith
Pastor Jordan Ali
Peter’s encounter with Jesus on the water is a story of bold faith and rescue. It is a moment where Peter took a step away from everything that felt safe and familiar, moving into the unknown, keeping his eyes fixed on Jesus.
We are often overwhelmed by the storms around us. For me, the storm was a life of addiction that led to brokenness. Like Peter, I reached a point where I was drowning, feeling lost and powerless. I felt like I was sinking in the waves and cried, “Lord, save me.” Jesus saved me as He did with Peter, and He’ll do the same for you. Stepping out of addiction, just like stepping out of the boat, required faith. It was not easy, but I focused my eyes on Jesus, and He sustains me.
Peter’s story, like mine, is a reminder that Jesus does not abandon us to the waves. No matter how far we have fallen or how broken our past may be, Jesus will lift us. Maybe you are facing your storm today, whether it is fear, addiction, doubt, or brokenness. Jesus calls you to step out in faith, leave the boat behind, and walk toward Him. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will guide you. Even if you falter, He will always reach out to save you.
Where have you felt abandoned by God? When that situation happened, where did you fix your eyes?
