Success Through God’s Eyes
Nick LeBlanc
Growing up as an athlete, the most important things to me were the awards and trophies I won. To me, these were the definition of success. The more awards and accolades I had, the better athlete and, ultimately, the better person I perceived myself as. We still see this mindset today, as people often determine success based on money, education, fame, and status.
However, success, defined by the world, looks much different than God-defined success. These things can hinder your perspective and cause you to forget what is essential: walking in obedience to God’s commands. We see in this verse that God has laid out how He has commanded us to live our lives.
Act Justly
Are you loving your neighbor as yourself? Are you loving your enemies like you might love your friends? Do you have the same level of respect for everyone regardless of their status or background?
Love Mercy
Are you forgiving one another the way that Christ has forgiven you? Are you demonstrating God's love and mercy in a world that seeks revenge or paying others back for the wrong they’ve caused you?
Walk Humbly with Your God
Are you keeping God at the center of all that you do? Do you thank Him for the things that He has blessed you with? It is easy to become proud and boastful in certain areas of our lives, but God wants to remind us to remain humble in all situations.
I encourage you to pray for God to reveal people in your life so you can extend these principles. I also want you to start thanking God for all He has done in your life, big or small. Don’t get caught up in what the world deems successful; instead, I hope we all can carry out these three commands and begin to live the type of life God has commanded us to live.
Which Part of this verse do you need God’s help to accomplish this week?

About this Plan
“New Year, New Me” is only accurate if something is different about you. This devotional is meant to challenge you to fully commit to Christ, your actions, hearts, and minds. This will show you the importance of living authentically for Jesus by fully engaging, not having one foot in and one foot out of your faith. We pray that through this, you will make bold choices, trust God’s plan, and make your relationship with Christ above everything else. Are you ready? Let’s go All In!
