God With Us

DAY 4 OF 5

A Savior Who Understands

Jesus understands every struggle we face, and He walks with us through them.

Jesus not only lived among us but experienced everything we face, which is why He understands our humanity so well. Hebrews 4:15-16 reminds us that Jesus, our High Priest, “empathizes with our weaknesses.” Jesus didn’t just observe human life; He lived it fully. He was tempted, He faced sorrow, and He experienced joy. He understands every human challenge because He walked through it all without sinning. This truth is what makes Him not only our Savior but also our friend.

Jesus’s life was one of joy and hardship, triumph and trial. He felt hunger, sorrow, laughter, and friendship. He knows what it means to experience life on earth, and because of that, He can empathize with us in the most profound way. He’s not just a God who watches from afar; He is Emmanuel, God with us.

Because Jesus knows our struggles, we can come to Him confidently. He’s the Savior who listens and understands. This Christmas, remember that Jesus offers more than salvation; He offers understanding and compassion. When we are hurting, He is ready to help, offering us mercy and a way through every challenge.

Prayer: Thank God for His compassion and understanding. Take a few minutes to bring your struggles to Him in prayer, knowing that He cares deeply for you and understands every detail.

About this Plan

God With Us

This five-day devotional, "God With Us," reflects on the miracle of Jesus’ birth as Emmanuel—God with us. Each day focuses on a different theme: the gift of God’s presence, Jesus’ humanity and divinity, his love for us, his understanding of our struggles, and the joy of belonging to God’s family. Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and the promise of Christ’s enduring presence with us.
