God With Us

DAY 2 OF 5

Jesus – Fully God, Fully Man

Jesus existed before the world began, and He chose to step into human form for us.

This week, we reflect on the incredible truth that Jesus, born in Bethlehem, has always existed as God. In John 1:1, we read that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus didn’t start His life on earth; He chose to step into it, taking on human form so that He could reveal God’s love and character to us personally. Philippians 2:6-8 describes Jesus humbling Himself, being “made in human likeness” while still holding all the power and authority of God. He was fully divine and chose to become fully human.

The mystery of Jesus’s two natures—both divine and human—reminds us that He fully understands both heaven’s glory and earth’s struggles. He’s not a distant deity; He’s a Savior who knows us personally, a God who wanted to walk with us and share our lives. This isn’t just a theological truth; it’s a profound reminder of God’s love. When you feel unseen or misunderstood, remember that Jesus knows you completely because He lived as we do.

Jesus’s humanity reminds us that our human experiences matter. He chose to feel what we feel and to live as we live, and in doing so, He declared that our lives have profound worth.

Prayer/Action: Consider Jesus’s humble birth and his eternal nature. Thank Him for coming so close to us, and pray for a heart that seeks to know Him more deeply this Christmas.

About this Plan

God With Us

This five-day devotional, "God With Us," reflects on the miracle of Jesus’ birth as Emmanuel—God with us. Each day focuses on a different theme: the gift of God’s presence, Jesus’ humanity and divinity, his love for us, his understanding of our struggles, and the joy of belonging to God’s family. Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and the promise of Christ’s enduring presence with us.
