Now Is The Time: Acts Children's JourneySample
Day 1
You are about to begin a great adventure! The very fact that the Bible is God’s Word to you—God’s Word to you—is amazing! And this part of the Bible—the book of Acts—is especially exciting. Even the name of the book lets you know that it is ACTion-packed. You will read lots of stories about real people who lived in real places at a time in history (over 1900 years ago!). This time in history was marked by danger and daring. These people will have active roles, but the lead role belongs to God. Watch for Him! Listen to Him! God speaks to your heart as you read His Word.
Each day when you begin your journey through the book of Acts, ask God to guide you along the way! You could pray something like this:
Talk to God
“God, please help me to know You better as I read Your words to me!
Read the Bible
Find the book of Acts in your Bible. Acts is the fifth book in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts). It was written by a doctor named Luke who lived during that time. But, most importantly, God helped Luke to know exactly what to write so that you would be able to see these great acts of God for yourself, in the pages of God’s Word. Next, find the chapter for that day’s journey in the book of Acts. Read the chapter.
Think About It
Think about the words that you read. Imagine what it would have been like to stand near the people in that true story. What would you see? How would you feel? What would you do? You could draw a picture or write down your thoughts. Let God speak to your heart. How does God want to change you?
Do Something About It
Be ready for action! What does God want to do in your life? You’ll be challenged to memorize verses five times throughout this journey. The theme verse for the whole book of Acts is found in chapter 1, verse 8.
Read it several times, then try to say the verse to someone without looking.
Memory Verse
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world.” Acts 1:8 (CEV)
