Now Is The Time: Acts Children's JourneySample
Day 5
Talk to God
“God, I thank You for Jesus. It’s only through Him I can be saved.”
Read the Bible
Acts 4:1-22
Not everyone believed that Jesus had come back to life. They were not happy with the disciples! What would happen?
The religious leaders were angry because Peter was telling the people that Jesus had risen from the dead. Peter and John were put in jail. The next day, the religious leaders and the elders and teachers of the law questioned them. They asked: “By what power and in whose name have you done this?” (verse 7) - They were asking about the man who was lame but could now walk. Peter explained that the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth had made the man completely well. Peter then added, “Only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone” (verse 12).
Think About It
Peter knew Jesus had risen from the dead. He had seen Him alive! He also knew that Jesus had died on the cross to take the punishment for our sin. Because Jesus is alive, you can be certain that He has power to save you from sin! Peter couldn’t keep this message to himself. He knew that God’s message must be shared. The religious leaders did not believe. But many people did. What about you? Do you believe that Jesus died and rose again? Do you believe that he is the only one who can save you from sin?
Sin—anything you think, say or do that does not please God.
Do Something About It
- You can tell God that you believe Jesus died and rose again to save you from sin. If you need help, be sure to talk to a family member or friend who knows and follows Jesus.
- Ask God to give you the courage to tell others God’s message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
- Memorize Acts 4:12 and be ready to share it with someone who needs to know the only one who can save.
Memory Verse
"Only Jesus has the power to save!
His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone." Acts 4:12 (CEV)
When the believers heard what had happened to Peter and John, they started to pray. God showed them His power by causing the house to shake. You can read about it in Acts 4:23-31.
