Have you ever had someone unexpectedly pay for something on your behalf? You’re in the drive-thru to get your breakfast sandwich on the way to school. You pull up to the window, and the cashier says, “The person in front of you took care of it.” Getting a gift is great, but getting an unexpected gift? That’s even greater! As followers of Jesus, we get this daily through God’s grace. We’re given it simply because we believe in and follow Jesus. We can’t earn it, we can’t lose it, we can’t do anything but receive it as the gift that it is. Even when we don’t deserve it, God gives us the gift of grace through Jesus, and that’s one thing we can always be confident in!

Today, thank God for the gift of grace in your life. When you’re tempted to think you have to earn to keep God’s love, remember that grace is given freely. And when you think you don’t deserve it, focus on the truth that God gives to all of us freely—that’s where our confidence is found.
