Take a BowSample
Have you ever known someone who is extraordinarily skilled at something? Maybe it’s a creative skill, an athletic gift, or even something as simple as knowing exactly what to say at the right time. Why is it that when we see someone else excelling at something, it’s easy to compare ourselves to them? We wonder why God gave them a unique gift. We wonder why we don’t have the same things to offer. Eventually, we wonder if we have much to offer at all!
In moments like that, it’s important to find our confidence not in how we measure up in comparison but in the God who made us. Scripture reminds us that we’re all made with specific gifts and unique purposes. What makes one of us great isn’t the same as what makes another one of us great. And that’s the beauty of God’s diverse creation! Instead of letting our confidence get dinged by the giftings of others, why not celebrate all God has created each of us to do just as we are?
Today, notice what you are uniquely gifted in. (If you struggle to name something, ask a friend, parent, or Small Group Leader for help!) Then, think of the other people in your life—siblings, friends, teammates, and more. What gifts do you see in them that you can celebrate, too?
