Arise & Shine

DAY 7 OF 8

The Transformation of Me

Transform means to make a thorough or dramatic change in the form of appearance or character. As believers, we all must walk the journey of transformation toward godly character and living. While we are one body in Christ, we are not clones. We are individuals with differing experiences and perspectives. We are diverse in our worship and in our spiritual gifts. Yet, we bring who we are to the body of Christ. Our notion of God, our current depth of relationship with Him, and ongoing understanding of His Word is what we all bring to the table. We offer to God and to our brothers and sisters in Christ who we are right now, no more and no less. Thus, if we desire to experience the power of God and spiritual growth in our churches, we cannot attack the body of Christ because of what is or isn’t happening as we believe it should. In other words, the collective outcome is only as great as the individual contribution. If we argue and complain constantly at home, then that is exactly what we will do at church. If we are nonchalant in studying the word of God and building godly character at home, then this is precisely what we will bring to the church. If envy and jealousy are rampant in our hearts throughout the week, then that is obviously all we will have to offer on the Sabbath. We can only give out of what we have. However, Paul admonished believers to transform who we are and what we offer to God and the body of Christ by spending more time concentrating on spiritual things. Consequently, we then become more effective in our ministry and assistance to one another. I do not need to point fingers or ridicule anyone else; the power and productivity that I long to experience in the church actually begins within me.

About this Plan

Arise & Shine

This 8-day devotional is taken from a printed book collection 90-day devotional. Arise & Shine is not about fluff, but presents real-life situations and challenges and motivates us to work through them to become better for the Kingdom. The enemy wants to render us stagnate. If he can’t turn us away from God, he desires to keep us wavering in our faith, dwelling on the same negative thoughts, and responding to difficulty in the same manner. But it is high time. It is your time. This is your season to arise and shine for God!
