The Mystery Revealed

DAY 25 OF 27

Day 25: Chad Freije, a Braveheart

Hebrews 10

From an early age, I was taught to watch out for things that seemed too good to be true. Even in college, I remember my business professors warning me that there was no such thing as a free lunch. In general, I have found these warnings to be true, except when it comes to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Hebrews 10, it’s almost uncomfortable to read how good we have it under the new covenant. This chapter declares emphatically the once-and-for-all sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We are clean now! Our sins are wiped out! Our debt is totally erased! There is no longer any need for striving! The work is finished!

The work of Jesus is so complete and so unmerited that we have to wrestle unbelief down to lay hold of it. We often hold these priceless truths in tension with our own self-doubt and unbelief. But in Hebrews 10, we see that the Holy Spirit desires us to receive them with complete thanksgiving and joy (see Hebrews 10:19-23). The truth is, you’ve finally found something that isn’t too good to be true. It’s too good…and it’s true. Let verse 22 be a daily response as your heart is reminded of the best news it has ever received. You have been saved. You are free. You have access to GOD!

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for making a way for me to know You. I want to approach You today and not wait until tomorrow. Keep me close to You today, Lord! Thank You for awakening my heart to the truth of the gospel today. I choose to believe Your word with thanksgiving. Amen.
