DAY 6 OF 12

Wounds Need Fresh Air

Did you write out your greatest wound and its message to you? If not, take a moment to do that. It’s nearly impossible to treat a wound you cannot see. Share your wound and the pain and sin it may have led you to with other men you trust. Our pastor, Craig Groeschel, often says, “We confess to God for forgiveness, but we confess to each other for healing.” That’s because wounds need fresh air to heal.

Fresh air is exactly what we’ve been experiencing with John Eldredge in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Jason’s realizing that growing up with a good dad isn’t the same as learning to trust and rely on the perfect heavenly Father. Daniel’s discovering he’s a man, a good one. He didn’t just stumble into adulthood. He’s been on a path, guided by a good and loving God. Ryan probably caught the biggest “fish” of the day when he hopped into John’s truck. His conversations with John on the way to and from the river will change him forever. He can be young in heart. He can be a son. He doesn’t have to be the strongest man in his world. He, and you, have a Father.

Eldredge likes to say, “At any given time in a man’s life, God is up to two things—dismantling the false self and healing the true man.” What or who is God dismantling? How is He healing you? As you watch the end of episode two and read today’s Scriptures, answer these questions. What has my wound said about me? What has my dad said, with words or actions, about me? What does my heavenly Father say about me?
