Wild Life

DAY 10 OF 12

The Adventure

Living the wild life is all about living with your soul set free. It’s not about getting outdoors every weekend. It’s not YOLO, the kind of wild life where you do whatever you want. If you’ve tried that, you know it leaves you feeling like a sad circus animal, directionless, caged, and only half alive. This wild life is set on trusting unswervingly, healing relentlessly, loving courageously, and adventuring purposefully.

John put it like this: “Every time God gets ahold of man’s life, He leads him into a great adventure.” He’s right. Look at Noah, Moses, Paul, Peter, Daniel, Joseph, and Jesus.

Consider Jesus for a moment. What was His adventure? He announced it to His boyhood town in Luke 4. He walked into church and said He’d come to release prisoners, let the blind see, and make the oppressed free. Wild enough? Well, right before He said all this, Jesus had just stepped out of His wilderness moment.

Earlier in Luke 4, Jesus was in the desert being tested. He didn’t eat for 40 days as Satan himself tempted Jesus to take matters into His own hands. Jesus left the desert, and having proven His reliance on the Father, He marched out of His wilderness into His wild life.

Jesus wasn’t the first person to go through a difficult season of testing before stepping into a godly adventure. Moses, the Israelites, John the Baptist, Joseph, and nearly every important character in Scripture experienced a wilderness. Why? Because to do something wild through you, God has to put something wild in you, and the way He’ll put something wild in you is often through a wilderness season in your life. Why? Because like Jesus revealed, the wilderness is the perfect place to prove full reliance on the Father.

Your wilderness is a time of questioning and maybe even suffering. It’s when you don’t have all the answers, and you learn to look to God for your every need.

After you begin episode four and read today’s Scriptures, answer these questions. Have I had a wilderness experience? What did God put in me there? What is my purposeful adventure?

Watch today’s video, and begin thinking about your adventure.
