Rejoice

Your season of rejoicing is now here.

We’ve taken time this week to mourn the loss of the old season, slow down and rest, relinquish guilt, assess our identity in Christ, and explore servanthood opportunities. And now, rejoice. Simply rejoice. Moms, this is what you have worked for. When those babies were little and taking hourly feedings through the night, did you ever think you’d be here? Think of the years of sleepless nights and countless prayers prayed. Think of the goodness of God as He has provided for you in each season. He has sustained you.

He will teach you more this season than you ever dreamed. As my children aged and left the nest, I began to have more time to dig into the Word, attend more church events, and engage in hours of prayer. The Lord began to reveal more and more of Himself to me.

What I thought was going to be the end was really the beginning. Sometimes, I reflect on rocking sleeping babies (but I get to do that with my grandchildren now anyway!) However, I also rejoice in the house's quiet, the season's end. I rejoice in learning that I was more than just a mom (although a beautiful calling). I am many things–all rooted securely in Christ Jesus. And here I stand, with more than ten years having passed since that first one left the nest, and I am living to tell about it!

It’s been special having them come for visits and going to visit them. I’ve enjoyed lengthier phone calls, as they call for advice or a listening ear. It truly is a sweet season, just like they all are. You will make it, moms!
