The Good Life: Abounding In All Good ThingsSample

The Good Life: Abounding In All Good Things

DAY 2 OF 7

Honoring God As Father

God is to be called holy because He is holy.  One definition for holy is “pure and blameless”.  There is no fault or imperfection in God.  There is no evil in Him.  No one can lay a legitimate blame or accusation to His name.  In every situation we face in life, we can find refuge in the name of God.

When we seek and make God big in our lives, He promises that our lives will be fulfilled.  However, this is impossible when the name of God is used trivially or profanely.  To take the Lord’s name in vain is to use it profanely as well as casually.  In doing so, we lose faith in His name, making it worthless, ineffective, and useless and of no real value in our lives.   When we use God’s name in vain, the power of His name in our lives is compromised and it is reduced to something that is general and commonplace.

Throughout the Bible, we see that it is expected of us to bless the name of our Father.  God’s name is to be used with purpose and intent.  When we take time to express that we love Him and recognize the power and authority in His name, not only is He blessed (exalted), but we are also blessed (empowered).
