The Power of God

DAY 5 OF 7

The Power of God In Our Storms

In this passage of Scripture, we find the disciples caught in a turbulent storm, rowing desperately across the Sea of Galilee. Jesus had retreated to a mountain by Himself, and the disciples seemed to be on their own! As the powerful storm raged, they were frightened! Then, out of nowhere, they looked up and saw Jesus WALKING on the sea, turning their worlds upside down! That’s Power! His words, "It is I; do not be afraid," calmed their hearts and they were glad!

This passage is a perfect picture of the Power of God in our lives, especially during our storms. It’s easy to feel alone, battling the waves of life's challenges with our own strength. Like the disciples, we might even forget that Jesus is near, watching over us, ready to bring Peace.

GO DEEP

In moments of fear and uncertainty, the Power of God is with us as our Helper, the Holy Spirit. Just as Jesus walked across the stormy sea to be with His disciples, the Holy Spirit travels with us through the chaos in our hearts to bring reassurance and calm. We invite Jesus into our struggles and the Spirit guides us, through whispers of Wisdom, nudges towards the Right Path, and Peace in turmoil. The Power of God can turn our fear into faith, reminding us that we are never alone.

BE BOLD

Take a moment to pray and invite the Holy Spirit into a current storm in your own life. Listen for His Voice, feel His Peace, and trust in His Guidance. Remember, the same Spirit that empowered Jesus to walk on water dwells within you, ready to bring you safely to shore.

Then, think about someone you know who is in the middle of a storm right now. Spend a few minutes praying for that person. Then, BOLDLY reach out to him or her. Offer prayer, encouragement, or a laugh to brighten his or her day. Don’t keep the Power of God to yourself. Share Dunamis with others and let your small group know how it goes.

MEMORISE IT

"When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened. But he said to them, 'It is I; don’t be afraid.' Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading." John 6:19-21
