Walking In Faith

It’s a long walk from Capernaum to Cana, about 37 km over uphill, rocky, uneven terrain. How much longer might that feel as you frantically race to get to Jesus knowing your son is lying at home dying? Exhausted and panicked you finally reach Jesus, where you beg Him to make the journey to your home to heal your son. The last chance effort of a loving father.

Jesus responds to this man, “Why do I have to perform miracles for people to believe?”, but still the desperation of this father remained, and he pleads and begs Jesus, knowing his son’s life is in His Hands. Jesus’ response? “Go back home, your son will live!”

Without proof that what Jesus says is true, the man believes Him and starts the long journey home, only to be greeted on the path by his servants with the news that his son was healed. When did this happen? The exact moment that Jesus spoke life over the boy.

GO DEEP

Physically this man walked alone, without Jesus by his side. But what did he have? He had faith, hope and a promise and, truthfully speaking, desperation too.

And you know what? Sometimes this is what our Christian life looks like also. Sometimes we have to put our faith into action and trust Jesus that His Power and Promise are enough, and He will come through for us.

The Word of God is alive (Hebrews 4:12), and when Jesus speaks life, or healing, or peace, or a million other things, we can believe Him.

Where does your faith need to be put into action? How can you take Jesus’ Promises and apply them personally?

BE BOLD

Sometimes we make journeys on our own – but it doesn’t hurt to have a partner with us. Do you know someone who is struggling? How can you walk alongside them to bring the Hope and Power of God’s Word to their struggle?

Or maybe you are too weary to do it on your own? Is there someone you can open up to and be vulnerable with? A friend, family member, or your small group?
