God's Purposes With Israel

DAY 3 OF 6

Day 3 - The place where God lives

Righteousness and justice: That is what was missing between people. When God says to Himself why He called Abraham, He elaborates on that choice saying that Abraham will direct his children in what is right and just.

Later the Lord makes a covenant with Israel after He has freed them from Egypt under the leadership of Moses. This covenant is God’s Torah – ‘instruction’. These Words of God are a blueprint for a creation in which righteousness and justice reign. The Torah is the whole first five books of our Bible.

God calls His people ‘priests’ and later ‘witnesses’. Priests are the link between God and humanity. When Israel follows God’s instructions it is not just a witness to God but can even bring others to Him!

In Exodus 25:8 God says, “Then have them make a sanctuary for Me, and I will dwell among them.” The original Hebrew for ‘among them’ can also be translated as ‘in them’. So God does not only want a place or building in Israel where He can live. The people of Israel themselves are where He lives. The Jewish people represent God’s presence on earth.

The apostle Paul emphasizes that even after the coming of the Lord Jesus Jews still have a special place in God’s plan and his most important reasoning for this is that God entrusted them with the Torah, God’s Word.

Do you realize that Israel still has a role to play?
