Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases (Song of Solomon 2:7).
Do you encourage young people to use their time wisely?
The Song of Solomon is a poetic writing about the love of Solomon and the Shulamite. God wonderfully creates sex for a husband and wife to enjoy; however, waiting until the right season to enjoy this intimacy is His plan. For this reason, the Song of Solomon on three occasions warns about stirring passion until the right season (Song of Solomon 2:7; 3:5; 8:4). Christian parents need to guide their children to use their youth wisely and not prematurely “stir up nor awaken love until it pleases.” Paul gives sage advice, “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts” (Romans 13:14).
Employment Point: Walk in wisdom by understanding God’s season for your life, and act appropriately.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
