King & KingdomsSample

The harshness that King Rehoboam showed split the nation of Israel. It was this that opened a window of opportunity for Jeroboam to come from Eygpt and save the people. Think of that again: God sends a man from Egypt to rescue his people from a harsh king. He takes them into the wilderness, and there, Jeroboam builds two golden calves for them to worship.
This should sound familiar. Israel is falling into the same traps they had before. Jeroboam repeats the failures of those who came before him. When fear comes on him, he depends on himself and not God. He does what seems right to him. And ultimately, he leads the people into sin. All because fear robbed him of faith.
Think it Over: Where might fear be robbing you of faith today? What might be the consequences of that?
