The question of why God tolerates evil is ancient. Humans cannot fully grasp why God does what He does. What we can say is that whatever God permits is incredibly wise. God sometimes uses human rage to fulfill His purposes. Example: Christ instructed His disciples to be His witnesses—in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Peter spoke on the day of Pentecost and crowds of people in Jerusalem and Judea repented and accepted Christ. But the apostles were hesitant to go to Samaria until Saul's persecution started. Suddenly, this persecution forced the disciples to leave Jerusalem and flee for their lives. As they fled, they told people about Jesus. Philip, a gifted evangelist, left and went to Samaria. There he preached the Good News and worked miracles, and crowds of men and women accepted Jesus as the Messiah. Notice that God did not stop the persecution. Instead, God used the scattered people to spread the Gospel. In a similar way, God let evil people crucify His Son Jesus, then chalked up the Messiah's horrible death as the full payment for our sins. God still does things that baffle us. God uses the simple preaching of the Gospel to transform those who believe it into children of God. God takes what is foolish to great minds and uses it to carry out His purposes. That is why we are willing to trust God when we cannot understand His ways.
