Feather Crowns

It’s natural to wonder if certain people among our dearly departed made it through the pearly gates. In parts of the Ozarks and Appalachia, some people believe that feathers found in the shape of crowns in the pillows of the deceased offer that assurance. But curiously enough, feather crowns are also sometimes found in the pillows of those who led rather, ahem, colorful lives.

Sweet Spoonful: The good news is that believers don’t need feather crowns to know where they’re going when they pass on. The assurance is already in their hearts.

Thank you, dear Lord, that a real crown of righteousness awaits believers in heaven.
