Hearing from God
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. JOHN 10:27 ESV
Some of us know when God is talking to us, while others aren’t so sure. God has many different ways of talking to us; sometimes He speaks to us through others, or a sign on the side of the road, or through Scripture. God also guides us through His Holy Spirit, who dwells with us as our Comforter and Helper. It’s so important to start listening and tuning in to the way He is trying to reach us. Jesus said, “But when the Father sends the Comforter instead of Me—and by the Comforter I mean the Holy Spirit—He will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you” (John 14:26 TLB).
You may sense the Holy Spirit guiding you during your morning quiet time or maybe even when you’re taking a walk or doing the dishes. Remember, the Holy Spirit will never tell you to do anything that isn’t of God’s will. If you feel like you haven’t heard from the Holy Spirit, pray for God to reveal Himself to you and to heighten your spiritual senses so you can see and hear from Him today. When He speaks, He will get your attention. Oftentimes you can feel His power and authority, especially when He calls you to do something that makes you feel uneasy or uncomfortable. We have to be okay with surrendering and knowing that His plans are much greater than anything we could think for ourselves.
You Got This!
Have you heard direction from the Holy Spirit? How were you able to tell? Have you acted on His direction, or did you choose to go your own way? If you wish to be able to discern your inner voice from the Holy Spirit, pray for God to reveal Himself to you so that you can hear His plans for you. When you do this, you’ll be tuned into God’s guiding light throughout each and every day.
