You Got This: 14 Devotions to Equip & Empower Hard-Working WomenSample
In a Hurry
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. ECCLESIASTES 3:1 ESV
Do you spend your life wanting what’s next rather than being happy “in the now”? It’s so easy to find ourselves wanting to hurry up at a red light or put our kids to bed in record time or finish a project as fast as possible. Often we get in a hurry just to wait. It’s like waiting at a bus stop for one bus when we should have kept walking and enjoyed the scenery instead. Or maybe you’re one who endlessly looks at the clock each day at work and can’t wait for the day to end.
Does it help to know that there is meaning in every step of your journey, including the step you are on today? What if we stop wishing away time and start trusting the One who holds the universe together? We can trust in His perfect timing and know that His timing is better than we can ever imagine. He is paving the way and what’s next for you even before you dream it up. And rest assured, even if you don’t see it that way at the moment, someday you’ll look back and see your “missed” opportunities as blessings in disguise. So instead of focusing on the next big thing, maybe it’s time to look at the lessons you are learning right where you are—and maybe it’s time to start enjoying the world around you instead of just wishing for the things ahead. He will put everything in line and in place. Don’t get to the party early!
You Got This!
What are you currently in a hurry for? What were some times in your past when you were in a hurry for something or someone? How would it have looked if you had just put your trust in the Lord and enjoyed that time instead?
