DAY 13 OF 14

Breaking the Mold

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. ROMANS 12:2–3 ESV

Do you ever get upset when someone sits in your seat at lunch or parks in your spot at work? Jobs, houses, friends . . . we feel comfortable where we are, and change is hard to accept. We like to be the ones in control of life. It makes us feel better, doesn’t it? We watch the same shows on TV, listen to the same radio stations, and even order the same things at certain restaurants.

Have you ever had someone help you with your yard work? Their doing some of the work took part of the burden off of you, and you could relax a bit. It is the same for what God wants from us. He wants us to cast our burdens on Him, and He wants to be the designer of our lives. We have to break the mold we’ve built around ourselves and allow change to happen. We can begin something new when we listen and obey God’s calling for our lives. And here’s a hint: God is already in control anyway. Trusting Him rather than being upset and fighting for our own way is much easier. Accepting that God knows best will bring more blessings than you’d think!

You Got This!

How have you built a mold around your life? How can you begin to surrender to Him for His control over your life? It’s okay to feel uncomfortable when God is remolding us. Above all else, He is in control. It’s hard to leave situations that are comfortable to pursue God’s plans for us. But when He says to move, move. When he says to go, go. Don’t fight the urge to stay in your mold; break through and experience the goodness He has in store for you.

About this Plan

You Got This: 14 Devotions to Equip & Empower Hard-Working Women

It’s easy for women to get wrapped up in all that we do and then forget who God created us to be. We all need encouragement and grace daily. This 14-day Bible plan helps women by focusing on how we’re blessed. Each entry reminds us to tap into God’s strength, develop a healthy view of success and failure, and learn to accept ourselves as God’s unique creations.
