Finding Fulfillment at Work: Part IV
We all have a purpose to glorify God, and God has a calling for each of us personally. You may be struggling, however, to determine your calling.
It’s important to realize that calling comes in stages. God had to prepare Moses to lead the Israelites by allowing him to tend sheep in the desert for 40 years.
Likewise, you may currently be in the preparation phase of God’s calling, or you may be already producing fruit from your calling.
Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
God has prepared a path for you. Ask for input from those around you, and pray for revelation and clarity about your path.
Questions for Reflection
- Reflect on your past for a moment. Have you been or are you in a phase of preparation, or is it clear you are already working out your calling?
- What do you know that you are not good at? Do you have friends and family you can rely on to help you identify and utilize your abilities?
- How does it feel to know that you are God’s handiwork? How should that impact your work?
- What have you learned through your career shifts? How can you apply that knowledge to your work today?
- If you are still in a preparation phase, what steps might you take to persevere and relish the fact that God is preparing you for something special?
