In the Garden With Jesus - a Lent Journey for TeensSample

Jesus had a habit of withdrawing. He invites his disciples to do the same. He knows they need it, and He doesn’t doubt they can do it. In Mark 6:31 He says, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place”. But they focus on everything that must be done. They enjoy being busy, they tell Jesus about everything that is happening (as if He does not already know). Until Jesus later forces them to be still.
Doesn’t Jesus also do this with us? We cannot live a healthy life without also withdrawing to solitude.
Isolation – a place of loneliness, a deserted place, the inner room where you are alone with Him. The place where you are cut off from any exterior stimulation – social interaction, the TV, social media. The silencing starts outside to become silent inside.
In Psalm 131:2 David says that he taught his soul to be still.
Exercise:
Find a place where you can be alone for 10 minutes. Take note of where your thoughts go to, and talk to Jesus about it.
Prayer:
I ask for an awareness of Your work in my life.

About this Plan

You are invited to a Lent journey where we will spend 40 days with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane - the place where He was extremely vulnerable and open to the Father’s will. Here, He shows us a glimpse of His courage to wrestle with His humanity.
