In the Garden With Jesus - a Lent Journey for Teens

DAY 31 OF 39

So, let's break it down. Usually, we're all about phrases like "self-fulfillment" and "self-actualisation." The idea of "denial of self"? Not exactly our go-to comfort zone. Take Jesus, for instance. He prayed for Peter's soul even before Peter went all Judas on him. But here's the twist – Jesus didn't pray to save Peter from betrayal. Nope, he prayed that Peter's faith wouldn't go AWOL (check Luke 22:23).

Jesus, the ultimate teacher, let Peter stumble, knowing it's all part of the learning process. He wanted Peter to build a solid, enduring faith – one that lasts, even when mistakes happen. Now, here's the real talk: if we own up to our mistakes, no sugar-coating, and trust God's got our back, our faith gets a growth spurt. Plus, we become faith mentors to others. It's like leveling up in the spiritual game.

Remember Peter and the crew, swearing they'd never ditch Jesus? Classic example of this principle in action. But real talk, it's not just about "religious" stuff – it's life in general. We often live in denial, pretending issues don't exist, and that messes with experiencing the best God's kingdom has to offer. Denial is like a roadblock to getting spiritually fit with Christ. It's when we avoid facing the things we kinda know are there but refuse to admit openly or take steps to change. And guess what? Those things end up pulling the strings, controlling our actions, and molding our thoughts and feelings. Time to break free from that denial game!

Exercise:

Ask Jesus to show you where you are in denial and what the effect is on your life.

Prayer:

I ask for an awareness of Your work in my life.

About this Plan

In the Garden With Jesus - a Lent Journey for Teens

You are invited to a Lent journey where we will spend 40 days with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane - the place where He was extremely vulnerable and open to the Father’s will. Here, He shows us a glimpse of His courage to wrestle with His humanity.
