Jesus wakes His sleeping friends. Get that image in your head for a few moments and sit with it. He wants to wake His friends, make them aware of what is actually happening. Of the Father’s love and presence and work in His life right now, and also through them. Their lives aren’t small, but they can’t see that they’re a part of something big that is happening.

Messengers are constantly sent from God to wake us up. In many of our experiences, there is a message with the potential to wake us up. We ignore or avoid many of these experiences and that can cause a lot of disruption in our inner world. In other words, we ghost, or blue-tick God’s messages and we miss out on a lot that God has to offer. Especially during break ups, fights with friends, distant parents and mental health issues - God wants to speak. But not only through negative experiences. God also sends messages through dreams, love and new life.

We can choose to open these messages and hit reply. Or we can just carry on like before. But when we awaken to these messages, a whole new world opens up to us with new energy to live by.

Exercise:

Ask Holy Spirit to make you aware of unopened messages God has sent you to wake you up.

Prayer:

God, I ask for a deep awareness of Your love for me and Your work in me.
