Journaling Through LentSample
Renewal of the Spirit
One of the things we repented for earlier in the plan was for complacency in our spiritual lives. Some of us have grown cold in our love for God. We don’t have the passion we carried in our hearts for Him once upon a time. We aren’t moved by the things of God anymore, and we haven’t spent quality time with Him for so long that it almost feels impossible to bridge the chasm.
If this is you, I urge you to seek revival in your spirit today. Ask God to renew your spirit – to take away the heart of stone and replace it with a heart for Him! Invite Him to work in you deeply. Tell Him you are open to a heart transplant – you’re willing to get a new heart that’s more open to His voice and more willing to do His will.
Let’s meditate on the promise of a new spirit and ask God to create within you a steadfast heart devoted to Him.
Journaling Prompt:
Illustrate the process of a renewed spirit. Use symbols and colors that represent the transformation from a heart of stone to a heart tender and responsive to God.

About this Plan
This 40-day Lenten devotional will help you meditate on the themes of Repentance, Renewal, Remembrance, and Remission in the lead-up to Easter. Each day, you will focus on one theme, meditate on a portion of Scripture, and use a journaling prompt to encourage you to internalize what God is saying by expressing yourself through the creative art of journaling.
