Journaling Through Lent

DAY 10 OF 40

Repentance from Complacency

While the devil is certainly our enemy, when it comes to our spiritual growth, our more formidable enemy is complacency. Our flesh is weak, and we tend to get comfortable when we aren’t challenged. As Christians, being saved isn’t enough, and pursuing constant growth in our walk with Christ is of the utmost importance.

Complacency staggers our progress in the Kingdom and brings in a form of spiritual slumber. We’re content just doing the bare minimum, and since growing in deeper intimacy with God involves dying to self, we’re happy to avoid that and stay stagnant. The devil isn’t bothered by Christians who are complacent. He’s not threatened by them.

If you feel like you’ve gotten complacent in your walk with God, I encourage you to come to Him today in earnest brokenness. Ask God to help revive your passion for Him and His Word. There’s an old song that goes, “Don’t let my love grow cold, I’m calling out, light the fire again." Make that your prayer today!

Journaling Prompt:

Let your journaling prompt for today be “Light the fire again." Depict the beauty of spiritual growth. Use symbols and images that represent the flourishing of a life committed to continuous transformation in Christ.

About this Plan

Journaling Through Lent

This 40-day Lenten devotional will help you meditate on the themes of Repentance, Renewal, Remembrance, and Remission in the lead-up to Easter. Each day, you will focus on one theme, meditate on a portion of Scripture, and use a journaling prompt to encourage you to internalize what God is saying by expressing yourself through the creative art of journaling.
