DAY 4 OF 12

GREATER PROMISE

READY
“Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 (ESV)

SET
Every race brings anticipation, joy, and excitement because we have more than likely prepared for the day for weeks or months. I still remember experiencing these emotions before my first 5k many years ago. I still felt these same feelings during to my most recent race. At times, we carry anxiety and doubt that we may not complete the course. This is when we need to hold onto God’s promise the most because with Christ, we can overcome difficulties, doubts, and discouragements. There is no despair in hope!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

Have we prepared for the battle that lies ahead further into the race? This part of the race is where our energy and desire to reach the finish line is challenged. We must trust in our preparation. Most importantly, in prayer and with faith, we need to believe that we will finish. Even during the races when completion seems impossible, we will find the will, strength, and endurance to finish through God!

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 (ESV)

When we live with Jesus in our heart, our whole focus changes from ourselves to honoring God with our consistent push toward the finish line. Hold on to the promises the Lord has for you. Remain unwavering in your faith with the provisions Jesus has for you. God is true to His Word. He will never fail to keep His promises. Let that be your confidence on race day and in your life journey.
