Encountering JesusSample
DISCOVER
Today’s reading is a fascinating one. John the Baptist is in prison at the current time and is feels quite discouraged. As a result, John just sent two of his friends to inquire of Jesus that He truly is the one and only Son of God. Others see this moment of weakness from John, during a difficult situation, as a symbol of doubt. However, Jesus responds to them by defending John the Baptist as a loyal, steady, special servant who is the greatest of His servants.
LEARN
Jesus has John’s back when John is in one of the most challenging situations of his life. He is in prison and is unable to find hope and encouragement, and His friend Jesus is there to defend him. John devoted his life and ministry to Jesus, and Jesus acts not only as His Lord and Savior, but as his family and friend.
APPLY
We don’t serve a robotic, distant, un-relatable God. We serve a God who loves, cares, and vouches for us. He loves us and views us as a part of His mission to save humanity from sin and death. Just as Jesus defends his follower, John, He cares about and loves those who follow Him. We are His workmanship. We are His sons and daughters. He is a God worthy of exalting.

About this Plan
Join us as we walk through seven encounters with Jesus. Just as Jesus transformed these individuals, the narratives of your shame, fear, guilt, and failure find redemption when met by the grace bought by His death on the cross. Your response to encountering Jesus has the power to transform the darkness of your story into a picture of grace, and redemption. How will you respond when you encounter Jesus?
