Encountering JesusSample
DISCOVER
John saw Jesus coming towards him and proclaimed to everyone that Jesus was the one who ranked before him and whom he had come to tell the world about. John called Jesus the Lamb of God, emphasizing to his Jewish audience that Jesus was the ultimate sacrificial lamb. His sacrifice eliminates the need for sacrifice in the future. He then compared his own baptism with water to Jesus’ baptism of the Spirit.
LEARN
This week was all about a similar theme: humility. John understood that Jesus was first, and he was second. He had his priorities ranked properly in his life. We all know that humility is a quality we should pursue, yet we all let our own pride slip into our lives in different ways. John the Baptist did not let this be the case in his own life. Even though he struggled, he knew his purpose was to glorify God, not himself.
APPLY
What is one area of your life where you struggle to put your Lord and Savior ahead of yourself? It could be something very specific or it could be something very general. Are you putting Him first in your relationships, your job, your prayers, and your thoughts? Think of what it looks like to put Jesus first in every aspect of your life.

About this Plan
Join us as we walk through seven encounters with Jesus. Just as Jesus transformed these individuals, the narratives of your shame, fear, guilt, and failure find redemption when met by the grace bought by His death on the cross. Your response to encountering Jesus has the power to transform the darkness of your story into a picture of grace, and redemption. How will you respond when you encounter Jesus?
