Two Kingdoms - Part 4Sample

You've probably heard the first few verses of this chapter many times before, but don't overlook the depth and power of this truth! Today is all about judging others. Let's be honest; we all find ourselves judging other people regularly. Whether it's how they look, the clothes they choose to wear, the music they listen to, or the decisions they make in life. On the other hand, think about when somebody has judged you. It's not nice, right?! We can spend so much time focussing on how others choose to live their lives that we neglect what's going on in ours - and maybe more importantly - what's going on in our hearts.

GO DEEP

Think about this image of a "plank in your own eye." When we focus all our attention on judging others, we neglect to see the things in our own lives that need working on. This isn't about feeling ashamed but about leaning into the grace Jesus offers us. When we allow the Holy Spirit to examine our hearts, we can see all the ways that we so desperately need His power to live as Jesus lived. When you realise just how much God loves you, despite your flaws and imperfections, you are free to love others instead of judging them. When you can "see clearly," as the verse says, you will be able to help others. Invite the Holy Spirit to examine your heart today. Have you been judging others recently? How can you show them love instead?

BE BOLD

Living like Jesus lived is really going against the flow of this world. It's different! It's weird! Next time you hear somebody judging somebody else, why not be brave and speak life instead? How can you bless this person with your words? Sometimes, being bold is seen in small decisions, like considering how you speak about others. Remember just how much you need the grace of Jesus, and choose to love over judging. This is kingdom living!
