Advent: The Coming of Jesus Christ

DAY 16 OF 25

ADVENT

Welcome to Day 16 of Advent! We have officially entered into our 3rd week of celebrating Christ's birth.

Each candle on the Advent wreath represents something very special. Last week, we lit two purple candles. One signifying HOPE and the other FAITH.

Tonight, we are lighting the third candle! The PINK candle! The color pink traditionally represents JOY. Our third candle is named ”The Shepherd's Candle". This candle symbolizes JOY because of how the Shepherds felt when the angels told them about Jesus! We can't wait to talk all about the Shepherds this week!

ACTIVITY

Part 1: Light two purple candles, symbolizing HOPE and FAITH. Light the pink candle, symbolizing JOY. Read today's Scripture. Reflect/talk about who the shepherds were and why God chose to reveal Jesus to them.

Spend 5 minutes in your prayer spots and thank Jesus for all He has done for us. Close with family prayer.

Part 2: Balloon Keepie-Uppie

Rules of the game: Blow up a balloon, or two, three, or four. Turn on the ceiling fans if you have them, and start playing by tapping the balloon up in the air. The balloon can't touch the ground.

Make it a competition by forming two teams. Each team plays one at a time until the balloon hits the ground. The team that keeps the balloon from hitting the ground the longest wins! Players must alternate each hit between teammates. No player may hit the balloon two times in a row.
