Advent: The Coming of Jesus ChristSample

Advent: The Coming of Jesus Christ

DAY 1 OF 25

DEVOTIONAL

Advent is a beautiful and traditional holiday experience. The term advent is a version of the Latin word meaning "coming," referring to the coming of Jesus Christ. During Advent, we take time out of our hectic schedules and recenter our day on what Christmas is all about - JESUS! It's a moment of reflecting on the birth and life of Jesus and the people surrounding His life, like Mary and Joseph. Yes, we know the shopping "needs" to get done and the Christmas dinner menu planned. But the best way to make this Christmas great is to praise God for the coming of Jesus and make memories with those you love. This requires intentionality! We must commit moments of our day to remember the kindness of our King. Let's dedicate this Christmas to our Lord and Savior. We can't wait to spend the holiday with you!

ACTIVITY

Take a few moments to find a "prayer spot" in your home. Make this prayer spot the place where you get quiet before the Lord. Maybe it's next to your Christmas tree or on the back porch. Spend a few moments in quiet rest and reflection of who Jesus is. Give your requests to The Lord and commit this season to Him. Parents, depending on the age of your children, you can share a prayer spot OR make it fun and encourage your kiddos to pick their very own prayer spot in the house and talk to God.

Here's another family devotional tip: Acting out the Bible is fun to get younger kids involved in Scripture reading! Assign parts and play dress up! Reading the Bible can be FUN!

Today, spend time decorating your advent wreath and making it memorable! Greenery, pictures, ribbons - get creative!
