God gives us gifts to help one another,

gifts that serve our sister and brother.

The teacher of gifts is the Apostle Paul,

the guy who was once known as mean Saul.

Believing in Jesus, his life turned around,

now devoted to God’s Kingdom taking ground.

Paul wrote many letters to the churches new,

teaching them to love one another as they grew.

“Just as your body is of many parts made,

in the church there are many parts to be played.

A different gift is given to each and every one;

none is the same, so together have fun!”

Paul said even more about the gifts we each show:

“It is God who hands out gifts above and below.

They’re apostle, evangelist, prophet, teacher,

pastor, church builder, servant and even preacher.

Whatever your gift, it’s given by God to honour Him,

every part is needed -- ears, eyes, nose and each limb.”

We’ve all been given gifts to serve each other,

our neighbour, friend, sibling, father and mother.

Of course, a gift is only a gift when it is given away,

so the gift you have isn’t just for showy display.

It must be given in service to our Lord and King,

no matter the gift, to help, pray, teach, dance or sing!
