What was your hardest day ever?
Like, the type of day you were overwhelmed with disappointment and hurt? The type of hurt you could feel lump up in your throat, and made your stomach so queasy you thought you were going to throw up?
Was it after you didn't make the team, even though you spent the last year improving your skills and conditioning? Or, maybe you failed a class after giving it your best? Did you fail your driver's test, and have to wait before getting your license?
Life — regardless of where we live, the color of our skin, our gender, or how much money our parents have — always brings situations that cause us joy, and others that cause us pain.
Some of the pain is surface level — just enough to catch our attention and sting. Then there are other times the pain runs deeper, causing us to rethink our priorities and friendships. And then, there comes pain that is so deep, we wonder what's real and if we'll ever recover.
In all of these moments, our primary verse for today reminds us that God is the God of all comfort.
There isn't a situation we go through where God is not there with us, ready to wrap arms of comfort and love around us to remind us we're never alone, and that all things will work out for our good and God's glory.

About this Plan
At the end of each year, we have the chance to reflect on everything that's happened and all of the people around us. There’s so much we can be thankful for every year — even if things didn’t work exactly how we planned. God has given us so much, and the birth of Jesus is a great way to focus on all of the gifts we’ve received this year.
